Drought in a Season of Blessings

Drought---it's defined as a prolonged dry period in the natural
climate cycle that can occur anywhere in the world.
It's happening in Northwest Arkansas!
Last week, our area was declared a drought area --D2 --to
be specific.
As you can see all around us--the color is brown.
Brown grass and brown trees.
Ponds are extremely low or dried up.

We actually moved beef cows from this pasture last week
because of very little water.  Even though there
is still water in the pond, the water quality has diminished.
Hay feeding has been a daily job for several weeks.

Even during drought periods there are blessings.
At the beginning of this drought period when the grass
still had a little green color, we were able to chop the
corn for silage.  This silage will be used in our
feed ration and will definitely help provide nutrition
and help stretch our hay supply.

Blessings come in all sizes---like finding a buyer
for our large milk tank.  It left for another dairy farm today!

Even during drought--we are blessed with new life on the farm!

A highlight and for sure a blessing during this drought--
                                                               a wedding!

We've been showered with blessings during this season of drought!

Farm Story Anniversary

My Undeniably Dairy  Farm Story began when
I said "I do" on
November 24,1984.

It's been thirty-five years of  loving a dairy farmer,

making a home and raising a family
and

working everyday with my family to produce nutritious
milk for your family and mine.

You can't make up stories like ours!

Just as my sweet anniversary card said,
"love takes work, and time, a Lifetime, to be exact."

Celebrating Dairy Time

Life is full of moments and milestones.
Ryan and I reached the milestone of thirty years of marriage today, November 24th.
Being a city slicker, I've had a lot to learn about moments with a dairy  farmer.  Actually, I've learned to live by dairy time. We use clocks and watches and cell phones to keep us on time but we could function on the farm without them because everything we do is centered around caring for our dairy cows.

First of all, the cows come first. I'm not complaining, it's just the way it is. Dairy cows get milked twice a day, the same time every day of the year including weekends and holidays.
The dairy farmer started me off right by incorporating my first lesson in dairy time with the wedding planning. Our wedding was at noon so our farmer friends could come to the wedding and be home in time to milk their cows and the wedding date occurred after the silage harvest.

I may resist dairy time sometimes , but never the love of the dairy farmer!

I'm looking forward to more moments and milestones that happen on dairy time!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

From the rehearsal to the wedding, I'm thankful for the fun we had with family and friends to prepare for Margaret and Cody's special day!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

Romance with a dairy farmer is always interesting! In January, Cody, our oldest son, wrote his proposal on the blue door (Margaret's favorite door)

and set the stage for the life-changing question!

I'm thankful for these special moments with  my dairy farm family
and
the June Dairy Month  wedding that happens in just a couple of days!

Dairy Love

Twenty-nine years ago at high noon, the time that all Ryan's  farmer friends could make the event...

we were drinking milk at our wedding reception!

Twenty-nine years later, we're still celebrating dairy love everyday down on the dairy farm!
