Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

Just when we thought winter was over,
it snowed.

I'm thankful that it was just a little April snow
that  melted in a few short hours,

that all of the new calves born during this crazy  weather week
 have been born without complications,

and
real spring is finally emerging just in time for
the two year old to teach us a few new ways

to enjoy life down on the dairy farm.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

No matter what size farm you may visit, according to the USDA,
97 percent of U.S. dairy farms
are family owned and operated, often by multiple generations of the family.

Our son Cody is the 4th generation to live and work on our family dairy  farm.
It's hard to believe that today  he's the one driving the tractor and working
on the farm instead of sitting on the lap of his grandfather

or being pulled in the wagon.

I'm thankful for the news we received that we will be
welcoming another generation to the farm in April!
                                                    Congratulations to Cody and Margaret!
(WOW--I'm going to be a Dairy Grandma!)

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

May is definitely a merry month down on the dairy farm!
Just as the flowering trees are leafing out and the pastures are greening up,
the iris, also known as 'flags',   make their grand  entrance.

I'm thankful for the colorful landscape provided by old fashioned flowers like the iris blooming next to the pasture and the sweet memories of childhood days spent in the garden with my grandparents.
