Everyday Farming Miracles

Do you cut hay first or get the crop planted?

The hay and corn crops are both important to our
beef cows daily diet.

No matter what decision is made,
farming is filled with these moments of
second guessing about the timing of any task.

Farmers are gamblers--without the trip to the casino!

Hay cutting started before the corn  planting.
It is not unusual to have  two or three activities
going on at the same time.
Farming is truly a juggling act with a little
gambling on the side!

Miracles on the farm  often begin with the farmer's hard work
but

it's the sun and the rain provided by God
that gives the crop.

We are blessed by these everyday farming miracles!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

                                                           Everything changes with time.
In 1962 when my Aunt Alice graduated from Sparks School of Nursing
in Ft. Smith, a nurse dressed in a starched white uniform dress,
white shoes and stockings, a crisp white hat and a warm wool cape.

How long since you've seen a nurse dressed like that?

Although the dress code changed in the more than fifty year
nursing career of my Aunt Alice,
her passion to care for and about others never changed.

Aunt Alice celebrated her birthday at the feet of Jesus on December 2.
In a moment, everything changed and yet, faith and family remain steadfast.

I'm thankful for the sweet relationship I had with
Aunt Alice and for the impact she had on my life.

Freedom to Farm

We'll be milking the cows, feeding the calves , baling hay and planting a crop before  we pack up our traditional  picnic supper, load the lawn chairs and head to the pasture where we watch the July 4th fireworks provided by the communities that surround our farm property.

We don't take our freedom to farm for granted--it's an honor and privilege to be an American dairy farmer working to provide high-quality milk everyday (that includes weekends and holidays)  by caring for our animals and the land we call home.

                                                               God Bless America!
