Dairy Farmer's Thankful Thursday

Whether you are nearly 3  or celebrating your 88th year,
birthdays are special occasions down on the dairy farm.

I'm finding that with each family  birthday celebration,
life becomes sweeter and richer as each year passes.

I'm thankful for the sweet relationship I  share with my
Mother and my granddaughter Hattie

and

for the birthdays that are just in time to help us
                                                                      kick off spring!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

It's easy to get so busy and involved with work and life schedules
that you miss the special moments that can never be recaptured.

I'm thankful for the moments we've spent in the beautiful month
of May with Hattie wandering around the flower gardens just
 enjoying her curiosity
about the ladybugs and picking any flower she sees,

to experience the fun of family events that involve
 cake,ice cream and candles,

and

to celebrate  all birthdays down on the dairy farm.

Birthday Wish

Make a wish...it's your birthday!
No matter if it's a candle on  cake, pie or just a cupcake, making a wish and blowing out the candle is part of the celebration!
Birthdays are not only  reminders to me  of how fast time flies  but also  how important it is to enjoy and cherish  every moment as your children are growing up!

We will be celebrating Casey's 25th birthday tomorrow...
as you can see,
he's still got that cute grin just like he did when riding on the back of the tricycle!

Celebrating birthdays is a very important job on the family dairy farm!

Happy Birthday!
                                                         Make a wish...it's your birthday!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

Life definitely changed for me twenty-seven years ago when I began my role as a mother and dairymom!

I'm thankful for the memories of each birthday, the milestones of growth and development and for the fact that our two sons  continue to work  on the family farm.

Cody will never be too old for chocolate sheath cake!

Ninety Years Young

As we drove into the yard by the Logan Community Building in rural Benton County this afternoon, it was obvious by the number of vehicles and the people standing in line to enter the building that it was one whale of a party for our special friend, Ava. Celebrating your 90th birthday is a very Big Deal!!

Ava is a cherished icon to many of us in the county--a retired dairy farmer, wife, mother, dedicated 4-H leader and supporter of all 4-H activities and Benton County Fair superintendent for decades. Ryan and I also have another special connection with Ava as she was a childhood friend of my grandmother and Ryan's mother. We've heard lots of stories about fun in the good old days! Ava is a perfect example of how farm families live and work in their communities for decades volunteering to make sure that the community grows and thrives.

Ava's enthusiasm for life is contagious and her family made sure that her 90th birthday would not only be a celebration but completion of an item on her bucket list--a ride on a motorcycle!
