Dairy Farmer's Thankful Thursday

November has become a season of Thanksgiving as we
pause to think of the many people in our community that
serve us throughout the year and in situations that
we never expect  such as the pandemic.

This week it was my pleasure to present these
community helpers with Undeniably Dairy stocking caps
and a Subway gift card provided by Midwest Dairy
as a way to say "Thank-you" and
express to them how much we appreciate their service.

I'm also thankful for the celebration of
36 years of marriage to the dairy farmer

who brought me to the farm to build a life together,

raise a family  and live in the   place we call home.

                                          Happy Thanksgiving...

Happy National Milk Day!

National Milk Day commemorates the day  in our dairy history when milk
deliveries were made in glass bottles. Alexander Campbell of
New York Dairy Company is believed
to be the first to make deliveries.

It's fitting to continue celebrating this event because it
represents the ongoing changes in our industry that have brought
convenience and a wide variety of  products to give us more
options in feeding our families.

From home deliveries

to the wide variety of dairy products available today,

as the saying goes,"we've come a long way, baby."

I'm raising my glass to day in celebration of our dairy industry.
                                                                   Will you join me?

                                                  Happy National Milk Day!

World Milk Day 2018

Have you heard...
It's World Milk Day!

Well, it's more than that.
We also are celebrating the start of June Dairy Month!
According to Midwest Dairy,
National Dairy Month
is the perfect time to celebrate foods made from milk.
From pizza to parfaits and chocolate milk to cheese plates,
dairy is a part of all the things you love to eat.
After all, the best memories are made over milkshakes!

Down on the dairy farm,
we celebrate every day with our cows
and today we raise our glass to them!

                                                    Happy World Milk Day!

We're Open!

We're Open!
There's no question about what will happen down on the dairy farm
when inclement weather shuts down the  normal activities of our community.
Bundled up with several layers of warm clothes and boots to give us traction on the ice,
you  will find us doing what we do every day...

feeding calves,

milking cows,

feeding cows,
and

taking pride in our commitment to provide high-quality milk that
plays a critical role in the diets of adults and children by providing
nine essential nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, potassium
and phosphorus,in addition to 48 percent of the daily value of protein.

Dairy Delight for 2018

What better way to end 2017 or begin the  new year  than with an Undeniably Dairy dessert!

Raspberry Delight, also known in our family as Purple Puddin', originated from my mother-in-law Bonnah Lyn's limited  recipe files.  Bonnah Lyn was a wonderful cook and did most of her cooking without any recipes to follow so I  cherish each hand written recipe card that I inherited from her limited collection. Thank goodness she wrote instructions for Raspberry Delight so that we could continue to enjoy a family favorite!

 Raspberry Delight

1 can sweetened condensed milk
Juice of 2 lemons
1/2 pint heavy cream, whipped
4 Tablespoons Seedless Black Raspberry Jam
1 cup of  chopped walnuts (optional)
1 box Vanilla wafer cookies

Mix the sweetened condensed milk with the juice of 2 lemons and set aside.
In a separate bowl, whip the cream; fold in the jam and mix thoroughly. Add this mixture to the sweetened condensed milk mixture.

In an 8 x 8 in. pan, line the bottom with vanilla wafers; add a layer of purple mixture, top with nuts (if desired) and a layer of vanilla wafers; repeat the layers. Chill and serve.

From down on the dairy farm, we hope your new year is Dairy Good!

                                                                    Happy 2018!
