Dairy Farmer's Thankful Thursday

Can you guess which one is the mother?
Fortunately we found this new calf with her mother
earlier in the day so there was no guessing down on the dairy farm!
It's fairly common for other cows to try to adopt a new calf even though
they will have there own calf in a short time.
Having too much love is never a bad trait!

This week seems to be filled with a lot of sharing experiences.
I'm thankful for witnessing the sharing of maternal instinct,

for the donated  Ginko tree  received from the
Tree Program sponsored by the Walton Family Foundation
for citizens living in the county
and

to witness  love  while sharing your favorite popsicle.

Life is too sweet not to share !

Dairy Farmer's Thankful Thursday

Resting is part of the job for these dairy cows that
are patiently waiting to give birth in just a few short days.

Each of these cows were moved from the milking herd to
the "dry" herd for a two month rest before calving.
They are fed a special diet, provided plenty of water
and checked frequently  for any changes in behavior that
                                                             might indicate time for calving.

Even though we started the day with no sunshine after yesterday's rain,
I'm thankful for the picture of rest that brings a calmness
to the chaos around us and that what we do every day matters
to you and your family as we work to produce
high-quality,nutritious milk down on the dairy farm.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

New life is always welcome down on the dairy farm.

I'm so thankful for the beauty and blessings of spring!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for the spring rain we enjoyed this week,

for the new babies we have welcomed to the farm,

for the blooming trees and flowers that survived
our freezing temperatures just as the buds set on,

for watching  Hattie's  excitement in seeing the cows
numerous times a day,

and

for the opportunity to share our love of the dairy  farm
with our fifth generation.

I can't think of a better way to welcome spring!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

Foggy mornings on the dairy farm  make chore time a little more difficult
but

I'm thankful for the beacon-like white spots on our
black and white Holsteins that assist us in finding a
                                                       sweet new overnight addition.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

In the late afternoon on a beautiful spring day in Northwest Arkansas ,
there's nothing more peaceful than watching the dairy cows graze or rest in the field.

This new calf was born in the early hours this morning
after a terrific wind and  thunderstorm.
I'm thankful for this picture of peace down on the dairy farm
that serves as  a reminder  there is calm after any storm.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

Foggy mornings bring surprises!

I'm thankful for the weather changes
that paint pictures of peace down on the dairy farm.

Can You Hear the Moo-sic?

From the feed barn,

to the hay field,

from the visitors on the farm,

to  the calves in the hutches,

and from the dairy farmer getting ready to tie the knot,

It's the Moo-sic of June Dairy Month that we hear!!

Happy June Dairy Month!

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

It was a bit foggy this morning when we fed calves and found this  mama with her new baby in the pasture. New life is always a celebration on the dairy farm.

I'm thankful for these early morning  life- on- the farm pictures I
experience  every day with my family.
