Thankful Thursday

                                                             What excites a farmer?

                                                         Hay season, of course!

The farmers have been waiting impatiently to

                                                     get started harvesting  the hay

                                                          and now, it is happening.

I'm thankful for the perfect hot and dry  weather

this week  so the hay can be cut, raked

                                                  and baled in perfect condition,

for the opportunity to celebrate  Father's Day

                                                            with  homemade ice cream,

for the memories made with our sons on all the
days we  work together,

and for the memories
of the fathers who raised us.

Happy Father's Day!

Ryan and I cherish the memories we have of our fathers.
Father's Day reminds us of all the ways our fathers loved us,
taught us and continually supported us as we experienced life.

Although our sons will have different experiences than us,
it's our hope that they too will have many memories to cherish.
We already know they are storing up all the times of
funny experiences and crazy ideas we have shared  in life so far.

From down on the dairy farm,

                                                        Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

As I looked across the field late this afternoon, Ryan and the
boys were wrapping the last few bales of hay for today.
Although it's a fairly common picture of them working
together to complete a task down on the dairy farm,
it is a sweet reminder of how special the
                                                    relationship between father and son.

Working together as a family has its challenges but in the long run,
those are overcome by respect and love for each other.

Father's Day gives us a special moment in time to celebrate
our family relationships.

and

appreciate the love that has shaped our family.

                                                        Happy Father's Day!

Father Love

Father's Day gives us opportunity to celebrate the love our fathers
lavished on us while on earth with us

and to celebrate the blessings provided by being a father!

"For I know the plans that I have for you,
declares the Lord,
Plans for welfare and not for calamity to give
you a future and a hope."

                                                       Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

Pictures often tell the story far better than any words.
I love these snapshots of cherished moments of how a father's love shaped the life of the dairy farmer I love.
It's where the commitment for caring for the animals and providing high-quality milk began and now  continues with the next generation of dairy farmers.

                                                                   Happy Father's Day
from down on the dairy farm!

Happy Father's Day

All the world's a stage,
and every father plays a supporting role.

I can't imagine having grown up without all the men in my life! My blessings increased when I married a third generation dairy farmer and became part of the farm family. Although Ryan's Dad is no longer with us, we have great memories, traditions  and lessons learned that come only from a farming father.

Hope you're planning to make great Father's Day memories of your own!

Happy Father's Day!

Daddy's Girl Treasure

Father's Day is a day to treasure Dad. From childhood through adulthood, our lives have been enriched by the relationship with our fathers.   Now that  both of our dads have passed on, we are blessed with  many fond    memories and lessons learned   that we treasure as we transition from being Daddy's girl and Daddy's boy to  becoming  the older generation. This transition is hard!! One of my 'Dad'  treasures is a typed page of recipes from my dad that he   often prepared for special family dinners.  It seems fitting on Father's Day  to share one of his favorite salad recipes.

Holiday Salad
1 15 oz. crushed pineapple
1 3 oz. wild strawberry jello
1 small carton small curd cottage cheese
1 8 oz. Cool Whip

Heat pineapple to boiling.
Add jello and dissolve well and
let partially set in refrigerator.
Add cottage cheese and Cool Whip, mixing well. Place in dish and
let chill.

Between farm chores and church, we'll be celebrating Father's Day  with our sons.  From our dairy farm family to you--

                                                          Happy Father's Day!

Dairy Farm Dad

June Dairy Month is one of the busiest working times on the farm as we add crop planting and hay harvesting to the daily milking schedule and activities required to feed and care for our animals. Although it takes all of us working together on the family farm to get the work done, in my opinion, the most important person on the farm is my husband Ryan, also known as Dairy Farmer Dad.

On any day of the week on the dairy farm, our Dairy Farm Dad exhibits an assortment of titles and positions as we work together on the farm. My description of our Dairy Farm Dad would be that he is a manager, a boss, a problem solver, a traffic director, a mechanic, a banker, an accountant,a nutritionist, an animal caretaker, a conservationist,a plumber, an electrician, a gardener,a cook, a friend, and a father. Basically, he's the center of our universe and the go-to-guy!

Having been a city girl before marrying Dairy Farm Dad, I had no concept of the many roles and abilities of a farmer. Father's Day is a perfect time to express gratitude to all the Dairy Farm Dads that not only work to provide a nutritious product for consumers but set a great example for the next generation of dairy farmers. I think a freezer of homemade ice cream would be a great way to celebrate June Dairy Month and Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all!
