Dairy Farmer's Thankful Thursday

A new calf doesn't always follow Mama
but you can usually count on

Mama to show up if you get a little too close.
I have great respect and appreciation  for this maternal instinct.

I'm thankful that we have the opportunity to enjoy
the land and animals  that live with us and around us.

We love the land and work to protect our natural
resources down on the dairy farm.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for the things we enjoy everyday down on the dairy farm such as

faithful farm dogs,

wild Egyptian geese that love our farm habitat,

and
curious cows that are always looking for
green grass on the other side of the fence.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

The leader of the Egyptian Geese started her training class early this morning as we began feeding calves.
It was obvious by the response to the leader's call, they had been through this drill before as they marched from the feed bunk to the edge of the grass.

These are just one of the many birds that we see and enjoy  everyday on the dairy farm.
I'm thankful that our farm land provides a natural habitat for many of God's creatures.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

It's not just people that watch the birds!

You can find this pair of Egyptian geese under the shade trees in the yard or in the pasture by the house every afternoon just after the grain is fed to the pregnant cows.

I'm thankful for the wildlife that live on the farm with us and for the habitat that farms and ranches provide for all of God's creatures.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

Farms and ranches provide natural habitat for many birds and animals.

Last June we were watching these Egyptian geese with their babies and this week I found this young  pair swimming in the same pond.

During a busy spring day on the farm,
                                                            I'm thankful for the moments
I can enjoy watching God's perfect creation.

Dairymom's Thankful Thursday

Last June these unique Egyptian Geese were born on our farm.

Just a few days ago, I found the young geese perched on one of the cattle shades in the pasture with the dairy cows. Caring for the land, air and water is a responsibility dairy farmers take seriously because we live and work on our farm and strive to preserve the land for the next generation.   I'm thankful that our dairy farm provides a natural habitat for a variety of birds and wildlife for all of us to enjoy.
